The long and detailed background, which you can probably skip most of: My (32F) husband (30M) is a free-spirited, artist type who has recently been struggling with depression and anxiety. I have a master's degree and he left school during his bachelor's because he found paying work in his desired field. He never completed his degree. We currently work in the same field, but he is of course much more experienced than I am. These details are relevant later. Throughout our relationship, I have been the breadwinner. I've never had a problem with this and neither has he. That being said, until last year, earning a living for both of us was extremely difficult. I was overworked and underpaid and while he did work, it was generally for short-term contracts only, and these were sporadic and not dependable or particularly well paying. I also suffer from depression and anxiety and had a job that drove me back to a place of suicidal ideation.
